Step away from desk: just a few minutes to stretch can make such a big difference. We tend to hold a lot of stress in our shoulders & it's really easy to let them(the trapezius and levator muscles) get into spasm with bad posture.GOOD ergonomics, shoulder shrugs, massage and even wall pushups are awesome ways to improve the circulation.Swimming, lat pulls downs and cables for strengthening.GOOD LUCK and keep us posted!

Odds are: You are carrying too much tension/tone in your shoulder with all your studying. It sounds like you need to relax a bit , incorporate some exercise preferably that also includes some upper body stretching. Also, consider incorporating relaxation techniques, see: http://www.health.harvard.edu/newsletters/Harvard_Womens_Health_Watch/2008/July/relaxation_techniques_breath_focus
