Not necessarily: Most people with nut allergies are allergic to tree nuts. Garbanzo beans or chick peas are legumes and not related to tree nuts, although it is possible to be allergic to both. If you have many allergies and have never had a chick pea eat a small amount when you are around others just in case you have a problem.

Depends: It depends on how your nuts allergy is diagnosed or if you have a clinical reaction after eating nuts or not, the risk may vary. Chick-peas are legume and unlikely to cross react with treenuts. In any case, check with your local allergist to have it checked before deciding to consume new foods if you have history of food allergy.

Peanuts allergy?: If you are allergic to tree nuts but not peanuts (which are not nuts but legumes) then then this is not a concern. A very small percentage of people with peanut allergy are also allergic to other legumes.
