Possibly musclespasm: Cold weather can send muscles like hamstrings into spasm.In addition,they may be tighter having stopped sport training.I would recommend you see a Sports Medicine MD for an eval as the back of the knee is not as typical a location for rheumatism.They can evaluate you & get you into Physical Therapy which should get you tip top. In the interim warmth,stretching,massage & restorative yoga could help
