135 per 10,000 est: 'In American public schools due to the spread of infectious diseases, approximately 3 million school days are lost as a result of acute conjunctivitis." That's just in the pediatric /school-aged population. One study estimated about 4 million cases of BACTERIAL conjunctivitis per yr in the US for all age groups. The MAJORITY of conjunctivitis's are not bacterial.
