A member asked:

How many days before the symptoms of conjunctivitis start are you infectious and spreading the virus?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Different viruses can cause conjunctivitis and they will begin shedding at different times before symptoms start. In general, someone who develops viral conjunctivitis probably started shedding virus (and could spread it to someone else) 24-48 hours before their own symptoms started.
