I hve small rough spots on my retainer.they have been there for a few months but i am just now wondering if they will cause damage to my teeth?

Retainer: Have the dentist who made the retainer for you take a look. We cannot make any reasonable type of accurate assessment, sight unseen. You have invested a lot of time and money in straightening your teeth. Protect the investment. Have the retainer evaluated.

Not likely: Essix retainers are intended to be used for a limited period of time. Sometimes, especially with prolonged use, they become rough and may cause irritation to the gingival tissue if they are not properly trimmed. Consult with your dentist to see if they can make it more comfortable.
