Good image of SI: CT scanning allows detailed cross-section pictures of your abdomen and organs. Adding oral (you drink it) and IV contrast material can highlight the lining of the intestine. Characteristic signs of inflammation in the lining of the bowel can be seen suggesting inflammatory bowel disease--Crohn's or ulcerative colitis. Tumors, bowel obstructions, abscesses or bleeding can also be seen.
