Same Hormone with a: twist. Each manufacturer uses the same levothyroxine hormone, and puts the correct amount in each pill. The difference between different manufacturers is the binders they use to actually make the pill. These different binders can change the absorption of the hormone, and since we are only taking about micrograms of the hormone in the pill, a little difference in absorption makes a big change.
