Bisoprolol long term: Assuming you haven't noticed any bisoprolol side effects thus far, hopefully. Has your chest pain been investigated by your physician in consult with a cardiologist? Along with acute side effects, long term use can cause an elevated uric acid level and gout in 1% of patients treated. Also, a positive ANA can develop over time. If PAD, may cause claudication. Its cardiac effects +hrt dz = CHF early
