Not sure of his: age or how long this has been going on. Is he losing his baby teeth at this point? This could occur if he has just lost a baby tooth in that area. If he is older- have wisdom teeth started coming in? If uncertain - his dentist should be able to ascertain what the issue is. Take care.

See a Pedodontist: First how old is your child and are we talking baby teeth or permanent? i have seen similar situations where a tooth is pushing out and the tissue around the area is lacerated and it bleeds easily. This is due in my view to chewing over the area, if the situation does not improve within a few days or a week I will definitely recommend to see your pediatric dentist.

Eruption: Did a baby tooth just fall out. If so, problem will self-resolve quickly. If that's not the issue your son will have to be examined, preferably by a Pediatric Dental Specialist.
