Fluorescein: It sounds like he used fluorscein, a dye that makes it easier to see defects in the cornea. It will rinse away quickly and isn't a problem.

Likely normal: The yellow dye is typically used to measure the eye pressure and evaluate the surface of the eye. The blur is likely from dilating drops to check the health of the back of the eye. If you have concerns, i would speak to the doctor but as long as the blurring went away, none of this sounds unusual.
