Had an endoscopy. i am on nexium (esomeprazole) for years. the gi said i had a polyp in my stomach & is normal for people on ppi's and not to worry. is that normal?

Fundic gland polyps: perhaps not *normal* but common, yes - up to 10% of people on long-term PPI develop fundic gland polyps. we have no data so far to say that it predisposes people to cancer - OTOH, we don't have long enough data to 100% say there is no association at all either. *if* there is an increased cancer risk it will probably turn out to be minute and more likely in pts with genetic predisposition.
