No worries: Single dosing of pelvic inflammatory disease with azithromycin is very effective and ensures compliance with the regimen. Longer courses are effective but compliance often is sporadic. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

You are right: If you were diagnosed with PID(pelvic inflammatory disease) treatment would consist of more prolonged antibiotic therapy. Are you sure your real diagnosis is PID and not just a lower genital infection involving coverage for chlamydia and/or gonorrhea. You should review your diagnosis with your doctor, to resolve any confusion.
