Dilute bleach: A 1:10 dilution of bleach bottle is inexpensive and effective for decontamination of surfaces in the home which may be the source of recurrent MRSA infections. Skin decontamination by soaking in the bathtub filled with warm water and 1/2 cup of bleach is also important at the end of treatment to prevent reinfection. Wash all towels and linens in hot water, with bleach if possible.

MRSA: This has become a common skin infection organism. It will eventually stop infecting your child but can not say when as it is different for everyone.

See below.: If the infections continue to be recurrent, you may want to ask your primary care doctor for a referral to an infectious disease doctor. They can tell you if you need a further workup or different treatment.

Colonization: Most likely, you are both colonized with MRSA, which is the case for many people. This bacteria often lives harmlessly on the skin and in people's noses. But with a small break in the skin (scratch, insect bite, etc), it can cause an infection, such as cellulitis or abscess. There are regimens designed to decolonize, but they haven't been shown to be very effective over the long term.
