Yes Kind Of: "Stripping " is used to describe several surgical procedures. There is the classic pinstripping or avulsion of the saphenous vein. Sometimes stripping is used to describe phlebectomy of more superficial varicose veins. In the latter case it could be called" partial vein stripping. "

Yes: Correct medical definition of "vein stripping" in the surgical removal of a saphenous vein with a stripping cable & this is not done very often anymore due to new catheter technology. Others refer to surface varicose branch phlebectomy as "stripping". Either way, it is possible to do a "partial stripping" in which only a portion of the saphenous vein is removed & this does make recurrence higher.
