Better treatments: There are much better treatments for varicose veins than stripping. Endovenous laser or radiofgrequency ablation is faster, more reliable, has a lower complication risk and faster recovery than surgical stripping. If stripping has been recommended, a second opinion may be helpful.

Vein Stripping: Vein stripping is a surgical procedure in which an underlying defective vein within the leg is removed, often the saphenous vein. It has been almost completely replaced by new modern therapies such as evlt (endovenous laser therapy) ; radiofrequency ablation (venefit). Vein stripping is seldom required these days. Seek out a local board-certified vein specialist (vascular surgeon) for a opinion.
