A member asked:

Can one palpate the peroneal artery or is it below superficial muscle? does it run on out side of the achilles tendon? i feel something hard in area.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pulse Check: There are 3 palpable pulses in the ankle/foot. The peroneal is palpable above and in front of the outside ankle bone (lateral malleolus). The posterior tibial is palpable on the inside of the ankle alongside the Achilles and behind the inside ankle bone (medial malleolus). The dorsalis pedis is palpated on top of the foot.
