Whelps: Difficult to say what is causing - but whelps aka urticaria are generally histamine related.Best approach is to keep a diary of events and discuss with pediatrician.Diary: when (time of day?), recent exposures (foods or topical agents), other symptoms,(itching?). Urticaria can be stress/illness related, temperature related, allergies and then the ever popular "idiopathic". Antihistamines may help
