A member asked:

Can being a alpha-1 mz carrier be the cause why my my daughter coughs to the point of vomiting almost every night? how do i help her coughing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Post tussive emesis: Is more commonly found with pertussis, but some people have a stronger gag reflex. What exactly is your daughters full diagnosis? Night cough is common with asthma, and vomiting up a stomach full of snot in the morning is common with post nasal drip in kids too young to blow their nose.
