Yes: Feel free to ice down your knees for 5-10 minutes at a time when they ave been overused and hurt. Reusable ice packs that go in your freezer are available at most drug stores.

Yes.: If the knees are acutely sore, then ice usually works better. If they chronically hurt then warmth is usually the better option. Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Aleve would help as well.
