Blood pressure runs 110/73 , but sometimes jumps to 170/106 already taking bp meds for skipped beats and atrial runs, reasons this would happen?

That's high: It is common for our blood pressure to vary throughout the day but I have to admit those numbers are pretty high. Assuming you are using the same cuff and technique, I would also make sure you are relaxed, no caffeine and not stressed when you take it. I would report this to your doc (keep record) as, depending on other clues, he/she may look into some rare causes of spiking blood pressures.
