Very possibly: Hi. In the post MI state, there are a number of drugs on board that lower BP. Also, it it possible that if enough heart muscle has been damaged from the MI that pump function has been diminished (called congestive heart failure, CHF), BP can be low from that. Her cardiologist can tell you if there appears to be any CHF from her echo or her cath or other studies they may have done. Good luck to her

BP & Heart Attack: Was that blood pressure (BP) measured during the heart attack, or is that a current blood pressure after initial treatment of the heart attack? A heart attack damages heart muscle. That fact plus possible complications from that damage can cause a low blood pressure. Also, some meds used during treatment can lower blood pressure. It is hard to say if just one factor is causing the low BP.

Incorrect reading: A blood pressure of 98/19 was not recorded correctly. The bottom number is the diastolic BP, which usually doesn't go much below 60. Think of the diastolic BP as the blood pressure in-between heart beats. Because the arteries have muscular walls they help to maintain a reasonable BP even in-between beats. Have blood pressure rechecked with a stethoscope.
