My son has what seems to be enlarged parotid salivary duct in mouth. the parotid gland itself is not swollen at all. can rubbing on teeth cause this?

Unlikely...: The literature does not describe any association with parotid or salivary duct issues with bruxism(rubbing of teeth). People with this type of problem may experience jaw pain, temporomandibular joint pain, slight enlargement of facial muscle(masseter), erosion of teeth, among others. If you feel he has some salivary gland issues make sure he sees an ENT specialist for exam and diagnosis.

No: Normal flap of tissue over the Parotid duct. If the cheek surfaces of your molars, and there is no irritation, then there is no local irritant. A defective filling with a sharp edge can cause irritation. The duct can be partially blocked and the flap of tissue may then become swollen. Ask your Dentist, and Oral Surgeon, or an ENT to take a look. There are lots of other swelling causes.
