A member asked:

Is it safer to top up 10 mg hypertensive pills for 5 years or so with 12.5 mg hct if my pressure fluctuates between 120/80 and 170/100 occasionally?

HTN: Hypertension(HTN)is a chronic disease and needs life long medication usually- unless you are very obese and lose lots of weight. Do not stop your meds. Anyway 170/100 is not normal but quite high and you need treatment . The effects of HTN happen over years and include heart disease, stroke, kidney disease. Follow up with your doctor.
