A member asked:

What is it called when cancer causes pancytopenia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Here is some info: Pancytopenia reflects the poor health of the bone marrow( where all blood cells are produced). Cancer often goes into the bones but such invasion is often patchy, so it does not affect blood counts. But a diffuse invasion of the bone marrow can also occur(especially in Blood Cancers as well as in solid tumors, like breast Cancer). One term used for the solid tumor-related invasion is Myelopthisis
