Two Models: There are two models when it comes to the treatment for opiate dependency. The first is called: abstinence based model which means the addict does not take any opiates and becomes involved in various other therapies, either inpatient or outpatient. The other is called: harm reduction model which utilizes replacement therapy with opiates like Suboxone until that can be gradually tapered off.
