Those of any opioid: The main complication of using opioids is constipation, which can be reduced by using stool softeners (colace, surfak) while taking them. Decreased bladder contraction with urinary retention can occur, as well as increased sweating, swelling in the extremities (edema). In higher doses, respiratory depression, coma and death. The Tylenol, (acetaminophen) in excessive doses, can cause liver damage.

Has rage ever been associated with excessive hydrocodone?

Yes it has!: Irritability, anger and even severe rage is not an unusual side effect to hydrocodone. That medicatioin should never be taken without close supervision by a licensed physician and any side effects reported immediately to that physician.

Is it safe to drive after taking medicine that contains hydrocodone?

Dr. Einar Ottestad answered

No: I tell my patients to "not drive or operate heavy machinery" after taking any sedating medications. Many people have gotten duis with no alcohol in the system if they are visibly impaired from even prescribed medications.

A 45-year-old member asked:
What are the side effects of hydrocodone?
1 doctor answer • 3 doctors weighed in

Dr. Peter Zimmerman answered

Several: Hydrocone produces tolerance (the need for greater doses to achieve the same effects). They decrease your pain tolerance (opioid induced hyperalgesia). They lead to constipation, and reduced testosterone levels.
But addiction is a disease. Alcohol doesn't cause addiction. Cigarettes don't. Either. Most people who take narcotics do not become addicts.
