A member asked:

4 y/o in hospital with iv antibiotics for an infection of his eyelid. is this contagious?should i worry that my other children were exposed earlier?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Orbital cellulitis: If your child is in the hospital, being treated with IV antibiotics, he must have been diagnosed with orbital cellulits, which might be due to an extension from a sinusitis, or from some kind of trauma or from bacteria in the blood stream settling there. It is not likely to be a direct spread from another child, so your other children are probably not at risk. Check with the doctor treating him.
