A member asked:

What does placenta anterior encoarching on lower segment means ? i am 5 months pregnant

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not to worry: This is a minor detail of an ultrasound report and only has relevance for an obstetrician who might be doing a cesarean section. A c-section incision is made through the lower uterine segment and so knowing this provides a caution to the surgeon when s/he operates. Generally in pregnancy, as the uterus and baby grow, a placenta tends to move back from this position so I doubt it will be important
