No: If the pain is tolerable at present and you have no fever, weakness of the knee, ankle or foot, or loss of bowel or bladder control, you can probably wait a day or so. Numbness or tingling are okay, but not true weakness (as opposed to early give-way due to pain). The nurse probably doesn't want to get sued for telling you NOT to go to the ER if it's something "bad."
