A member asked:

What is the recommended duration for a mother to nurse their baby? my son is six months old and i am wondering if i can stop

A doctor has provided 1 answer

12 months.: Ideally, it's great to nurse babies until 12 months old, and it's terrific that you've done it for 6 months already! breast milk provides the optimal nutrition for babies, so if you can continue nursing him as you're introducing solid food, that's great. If you stop lactating or have a medical reason to stop nursing him, then substitute with infant formula.
