A member asked:

When i was a child i had asthma which went away. i now have pneumonia and when i breathe i am wheezing could my asthma be back? what should i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to say: About 70% of the wheezing in childhood is not asthma but infectious wheezing. It often disappears by school age never to return. There are also asthma patients that present as kids, become symptom free for a period & emerge again with asthma as adults. There are also forms of pneumonia that produce wheezing. Since there is such overlap, only time will tell. Discuss this with your doc & plan as needed
