Bleeding gums: Plavix (clopidogrel) will increase the chance of bleeding following surgical procedures and deep cleanings. Since we cannot know her full medical and dental history as well as periodontal condition (bone loss, pocketing, etc) we can't really comment beyond that. She should notify the dentist who actually treated her for advice.

Go to emergency room: Since you are on Plavix, (clopidogrel)which acts as a blood thinner & anticoagulant,it does not allow your blood to clot easily.Usually, you should stop plavix (clopidogrel) 3-5 days before any deep cleaings or surgeries. Ofcourse this should be done with your physician's consent. In your current situation, emergency room can help you with bleeding problem. You may also need gel-fom & suturing in the bleeding areas.

See periodontist: Bleeding gums are never normal, not even when you have your teeth professionally scaled and cleaned. It is is an advance periodontal disease and granulation tissue needs to be removed properly. Do not discontinue Plavix (clopidogrel) your medical problems are more important. See a periodontist for a proper care.
