Difficult to say: The two may not be related. The back pain may be a sign of Kidney infection (pyelonephritis) and you may need treatment. Isolated mildly elevated ALT may be from vomiting (hyperemesis), viral or autoimmune hepatitis, gall stones, medications such as Aldomet (methyldopate) or uncertain etiology, etc. You doctor may do tests to determine the cause. If none is found, the tests may be repeated, it usually resolve.
