PalpitationsCommonly: due to cardiac arrhythmias, about 70% of the time. Intensity of each heartbeat is a function of time delay between contractions because a key control is heart filling for intensity of each contraction, both within heart & especially split-second brain control. Thus early contractions are weaker than usual, longer delays result in stronger contractions which commonly catch people's attention.
