Herpes simplex: Your description sounds like a herpes outbreak; however, as I can't see your lesions in this format I would recommend that for a definitive diagnosis you make an appointment with your physician.

Viral infection: This could still be due to herpes labialis (type 1, "cold sore") virus. How long have you had the symptoms? What treatments are you trying? If this does not get better, or is getting worse, do get a clinical checkup. Hope that helps.
