Dryness after PRK: PRK eye surgery can temporarily cause or exacerbate dry eye. During the surgery, the tips of the nerve endings that sense dryness are removed as the surface of the eye is reshaped. Those nerve endings grow back. It normally takes 3-6 months. If the dryness is not better after 6 months, there may be an underlying dry eye condition not related to the surgery that needs to be treated.
