Psyllium helps: Hi. Yes, I advise all my constipated patients to take psyllium husks daily and drink a lot. At 23, you're unlikely to have any GI disease, so blood in the stool probably just signals traumatic bowel movements. If there is any mucous in the stool, you should also consider inflammatory bowel diseases and see a gastroenterologist. If the psyllium doesn't fix the problem, you should see a gastro.

YES: You may wish to consider an osmotic laxative such as Miralax; however, if not relieved I would certainly suggest that you be evaluated at the ER and ultimately, you will need a rectal exam. Hope this helps.

Yes: most likely you are constipated. psyllium will add bulk and help increase the fecal volume . also drink plenty of water
