Some possibilites: Irritation of the diaphram is quite common after a respiratory infection. Pneumonia, fluid collections, severe scarring would SHOW on a CT. the less serious and Much More Painful, PLEURODYNIA would not show up! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bornholm_disease
