Can i put oil in my ears to help with the dryness or would that be a bad thing?

I don't recommend it: I don't recommend an unknown oil for dryness or any other ear condition. You need a reason (diagnosis) and then a treatment. A possible cause may be seborrheic dermatitis that would be helped with a steroid cream or drop. Recommend an exam by an ear, nose, throat MD who can prescribe for your specific condition.

Oil in ear: none irritating vegetable oil or baby oil is not a bad thing for dry ears.
