Not necessarily: Clicking in the knees can be common, and usually painless. If it does not cause discomfort, or cause symptoms like locking or catching, then it is often within normal. If symptoms exist, then warrants an evaluation.

Many knees click through different parts of the normal range of motion. If your clicks are associated with pain or blockage of motion, then the click can be pathological and evaluation by an Orthopaedic surgeon is appropriate.
