A member asked:

My child has a speech disorder, her school wants her in special olympics. is that appropriate?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to say.: How old is your child? Does she have any other developmental delays? Is her speech problem limiting her communication and ability to interact with other children? And, most important, does she wish to do Special Olympics? It can be a good way for her to meet other kids and compete in her own way, feeling accepted by others. Talk with her teacher or counselor for more info.
