On occasion: B "sd Normetanephrine is the neurotransmitter of the sympathetic (fight and flight) nervous system. elevations are common with anxiety, fear, stress in general and occasionaly in some serious conditions such as pheochromocytoma. The first consideration is for what symtpoms the test was ordered. Further testing usually needed. Often, I do a clonidine suppression test. glad to discuss.
