A 21-year-old member asked:

does food intolerance or lactose intolerance increase your risk for colon or rectal cancer?

2 doctor answers7 doctors weighed in
Dr. Jeffrey Crespin
Gastroenterology 28 years experience
No: Lactose intolerance does not cause colon cancer. However, there is an association between low levels of vitamin d and colon cancer.
Dr. Jack Hinkle
Specializes in Family Medicine
No: There are many studies done on food intolerances and food allergies, with mixed results in the latter. As far as food intolerances are concerned, it is not felt that there is a link to cancer.
