A member asked:

My dad did radiation in 2010 to remove a tumor in the throat. prognosis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Good: Most tumors of the head and neck and in particular throat are squamous cancers. These lesions if not requiring surgery and chemotherapy along with neck dissection for control can probably be considered localized. Under such circumstances radiation therapy is the treatment needed and if the tumor did not recur in the 1-2 year period would have a high degree of curablility at the 4 year interval.
