What does the phrase 'lipid metabolism' mean?

Dr. Jesus Yap answered

How fat is formed: Lipid metabolism means the process in which fats are formed ,utilized and broken down and disposed in the body. It starts when the food is broken down in the gut to form molecules that are transported to the blood where it is processed into different particles. These particles are then taken up by the cells where the fats are extracted. The leftover is then delivered to the liver for disposal
