It depends a bit: On you. Prophylactic therapy is often indicated when: -migraine frequency >2/month -use of abortive therapy more than 2X/week -major debility due to migraines >3days/week -limited effect from abortive therapy or side effects from abortive therapy If this is the case for you, as you mention, you may want to strongly consider preventative/prophylactic treatment.
