Many reasons: Numbness is usually the result of decreased blood flow to an area. It can also occur after exposure to cold, with hyperventilation, with lactic acidosis (as can occur with metformin), allergic reactions, anxiety, spicy foods, reaction to lipstick or balm, mineral deficiencies and a host of other conditions. You should bring this to your doctor's attention in the near future.
