Ultrasound : I suggest an ultrasound to see if there is a scar or thrombosis vein causing this finding. It would seem to be highly unlikely that after all this time a foreign body was behind this. Good to check it out anyway

Clotted vein?: A clotted vein is common after IV infusion. It can extend to involve the entire limb sometimes. See your PCP who can diagnose it by clinical exam.

8 years is long: I could be wrong and you might be wise to have an exam, but I'd think that this is not related to the incident 8 years ago. But the only way to know what it is would be an exam - so have an exam. Best!
