NCV: MRI tells you about status of things after tendon repair (bleeding, swelling etc) . It is not sensitive for nerve injury unless there is something obviously compressing a large nerve) . I recommend a neurological exam and a nerve conduction study to localize the problem.

Varies : There are a lot of possibilities. An MRI is a good test for major structural problems, but it may not pick up subtle cases of nerve impingment. A real detailed exam can usually determine the likely cause, followed by appropriate studies to confirm.
